  • Starving goose resists attempts to rescue it. A Canada goose with a plastic ring entwined around its bill and neck (above) is emaciated and hungry but as animal rescue officials (right) tried to get near enough to rescue it yesterday; the bird flew away. The goose lives on reedy marshland at Rouge Beach park and has been fed since Good Friday by Peter and Jean Charters of Clappison Blvd.; after they noticed the ring - the type used to carry six-pack cans of beer. When the bird could no longer eat; they called the rescue squad; who will try to capture it again today with more equipment.
