Original Toronto Star caption: Two Fires at the 1;300-foot level of the ON Tower yesterday sent out clouds of thick black smoke (right) and caused four welders to be taken to hospital for smoke inhalation. John Busato; 26; of Markham (left) and three other welders scrambled 120 feet up stairs to save their lives when fire broke out; caused by molten slag from a welder s torch falling down an elevator shaft about 50 feet to a floor that was being waterproofed with avolatile; tar-based substance.
