  • Battling the ice storm that made driving difficult and caused widespread blackouts in metro; four snowplows work their way south yesterday on Highway 427. The lights went out in Varsity Arena at 8.02 p.m. just as Wayne Carleton scored the first of his two goals for the Toronto Toros. Etobicoke was blacked out for more than an hour and Don Mills for 25 minutes. But the storm is moving off into Quebec and tomorrow should be partly sunny and warmer.
