Original Toronto Star caption: Yonge St Methodist Yonge Street Methodist Church opened in 1873 on Yonge Street at the southeast corner of Marlborough Avenue. In 1911, a new church, pictured here, opened on Yonge Street at the northeast corner of Summerhill Avenue. It became a United Church in 1925 at the time of church union. The building was severely damaged by fire in May 1971, and was demolished subsequently. The congregation amalgamated with St. Andrew's United Church, Bloor and Church streets, in May 1973.
