On June 7, 1848, the late Dr. Burns visited the tiny Scarboro community and 40 members were enrolled in Knox Presbyterian church. Before then, Scottish settlers gathered in homes, barns and schoolhouses to worship. Itinerant preachers served them and most of the north shore of Lake Ontario
