Original Toronto Star caption: A big ship brings in a sweet cargo; The biggest ship ever to dock in Oshawa Harbor is in port now: the Nanfri; 710 feet long; as large a ship as can be handled by the St. Lawrence Seaway. Her cargo is 13;000 tons of sugar from Durban; South Africa; destined for the Westcane Refinery in Oshawa. Two cranes are working around the clock to unload the sugar by Thursday; if all goes well. Meanwhile; the crew of 32-from 23 different countries-are busy scraping and painting the hull; a continuous job.
