Relates the fortunes of a shipwrecked family as they adapt to life on an island with abundant animal and plant life.
The second edition of 1818 was the first to be published in two volumes under the title: The Swiss family Robinson.
The six plates are engraved by Henry Corbould after S. Springsguth or J. Dadley. The four in v. 1 were also used in the first edition published under the title: The family Robinson Crusoe, translated by William Godwin.
