Into this story of a girls' boarding-school, the author has inserted a chapter containing recollection and anecdotes concerning Princess Charlotte who died in November, 1817. In the preface dated February, 1818, the author say: "I have joined my simple offering to the larger tribute of praise so justly due to ther memory."
The frontispiece, engraved on copper by H. Dadral, bears the date May 22, 1818.
