Original Toronto Star caption: Centennial Blastoff-The Queen's Park statue of Sir John A. Macdonald stands out as clearly as the role he played in bringing about Canda's Confederation in 1867. Macdonald played a leading part in bringing four provinces into Confederation and negotiating a Canadian constitution in London. Saturday night's fireworks at Queen's Park marked Centennial Year's start in Ontario. Main speaker was Ontario's Premier john Robarts. An estimated 25;000 persons crowded the area.
