Original Toronto Star caption: Scientists prepare a reactor core for nuclear fuel bundles at the Pickering power plant. About 10 to 13 spent fuel bundles are removed by remote control from each of Ontairo's 14 operating nuclear reactors daily and according to Ontario Hydro officials, there are now more than 400,000 spent nuclear fuel bundles stored at reactor sites across Ontario and in Quebec and New Burnswick. There they wait until a permanent solution on what to do with them can be found.
