Original Toronto Star caption: The problem was chlorine. Deadly chlorine leaking from a punctured tanker. The solution was a patch - one hoisted by block and tackle and made of steel and wood and rubber and anything else that could be found. A man called Green Adair attached it long enough for 20 tons of chlorine to be pumped safely out. After that; the crisis was over.
