Original Toronto Star caption: Toronto alderman John Sewell, defeated 25-2 in the Metro chairmanship election, stands alone in the council chamber during the prayer. Sewell says he was not surprised by his overwhelming defeat by North York Controller Paul Godfrey, but he was disappointed by absence of some Metro councillors who might have supported him. Toronto Alderman Karl Jaffary and Anne Johnston voted for Sewell, he says they're only ones to realize how important this was.
