Original Toronto Star caption: It's coffee time at the Lake Ontario Cement Ltd. annual meeting, and Mrs. Ruth Gordon does the pouring for company president W. M. Bateman (left) and chairman Stephen Roman. Bateman told shareholders that anti-inflation controls haven't been in effect long enough to dampen inflationary expectations, but that they should be modified to let profits rise to a limited degree. 'The answer is to develop a new system,' he told the meeting.

    Reviving the giant: Paul Jacobus Erasmus, the 38-year-old bachelor president of Canadian Breweries Ltd., would like to find more time to spend on the finer details of investing $55 million which Canadian Breweries has available. He is leading the fight to life the beer giant from its present economic doldrums. His major task now, however, is to sell more beer in Canada and the United States.
