Original Toronto Star caption: Dr. Peterson says it with music. Noted Canadian jazz pianist Oscar Peterson was conferred with an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws by the University of Toronto faculty of music yesterday. In lieu of the traditional address to graduating students, who were holding their convocation, Peterson said it in the language he knows best - at the keyboard. He played a stirring rendition of Caravan, for which he received a thunderous ovation from the faculty, students and guests. U of T Chancellor George Ignatieff conferred the honor.
