Original Toronto Star caption: Unconventional and Outspoken United Church moderator, Dr. Robert McClure, has spent last 40 years as missionary doctor in China, on the Gaza Strip, and in India (above). He learned art of magnificent improvisation early in missionary work, setting fractured bones with bicycle spokes and slicing off skin for grafts to one twelve-thousandth of an inch with handsaw resembling giant razor blade, as he demonstrates (top right). He is a highly trained surgeon.

    Daring doctor: Port Perry's Dr. Guntis Silins treats Merchant Roberts for sinus problems with acupuncture needes. Silins, bon in Sweden to Latvian parents, has taken his talents to China, Australia, South Africa and the Arctic. A skin diver, he also helped make a film called Free Dive about the efforts of severely handicapped young people.
