Deep in the Portuguese heart of Toronto, master boat-builder Tom Williams fashions cedar canvas canoes for nature-lovers from all over the country. Up to 100 hours of work goes into one of these canoes at the Tender Craft Boat Shop on Brock Ave. Williams also makes other small wooden boats. The company, owned by Barbara Williams and Bill Steiss for 10 years, also sells materials for do-it-yourselfers and helps with repairs.
