    Game of chinese checkers is enjoyed by Professor James Lemon, his wife Carolyn and children Catherine, 1, Janet, 4, and margaret, 9, in their Walmer Road home. Although earning a salary of $15,000 teaching geography at the University of Toronto, Dr. Lemon describes his living as relatively frugal and finds the family budget getting tight. Although he has a car, he walks to work.

    His 31 years with the North York Board of Education give teacher Walker Dear (middle) the second-longest service record of high school teachers in the borough. Technical director at Downsview Secondary School since 1962, he retires June 30. With him are two of his former students who now are teachers at the school. Gordon Brown (left) and Stan Tsoki as they recall some of the years.
