Original Toronto Star caption: On the trail: Columnist Frank Jones, foreground, went to Barrie to try snowmobiling for the first time and found that the machines don't deserve the bad press they get. More than 30,000 people in Ontario belong to snowmobile clubs, where safety programs are emphasized. Trails are patrolled by club members to ensure snowmobilers aren't trespassing or damaging the environment.
