The win was sweet revenge for Halton Liberals, still smarting from the more-than-2,000-vote trouncing O'Connor gave their incumbent candidate, Rud Whiting, in the general election two years ago.       On first Canadian visit, Israeli Prime Minister Levi Eshkol (right) paid a courtesy call on Premier John Robarts (centre) and met Philip Givens, former mayor of Toronto, after arriving in the city yesterday. He planned to spend most of today observing Jewish Sabbath in his hotel room. After sundown he will be guest of honor at a dinner at Adath Israel Synagogue, then will leave tomorrow for Montreal where he will present Israel's Expo pavilion to the city.

      New mayor for Uxbridge. The four-way race for the mayor's chair in Uxbridge was won last night by pharmacist Gord Davie, 40, in his first try for political office. Watching the election returns in his living-room he is flanked by campaign workers Bev Fellows (left) and Mary Lettau. Although he didn't campaign specifically on the issue. Davie was regarded by many citizens as an anti-penitentiary candidate. Major issue was proposed to build a $13 million prison reception centre in the township.
