Original Toronto Star caption: Chief Leonard Pelletier sits between Queen and Prince Philip at a partially reconstructed fort in Thunder Bay. In a pageant depicting fort William's frontier days; voyageurs came up the Kaministiquia River in Montreal canoes of birchbark; each capable of carrying four tons of cargo. The Queen was presented with cases of Fort William Bounty; historical items to be given to school children.

    An Indian Chief is presented to the Queen yesterday in Thunder Bay. She shook hands with five chiefs; including 86-year-old Frank Pelletier. His grandson, Chief Leonard Pelletier, gave the Queen a beaded stole; in behalf of nine bands who came under the Robinson Superior Treaty; and his crippled granddaughter; 8-year-old Trina Pelletier; gave the Queen bouquet of roses and carnations from her wheelchair.
