Original Toronto Star caption: 15 minutes late; Queen Elizabeth; the Queen Mother; arrived at the Royal York hotel last night for the dinner given the Toronto Scottish Regiment by the Empire Club of Canada. She is the regiment's colonel-in-chief. Wearing a diamond tiara and a jewel-encrusted white gown slashed by the wide ribbon of the Order of the Garter; she was the epitome of royal majesty. More than 300 persons lined the hotel lobby to catch a glimpse of her and another 200 crowded entrance.
