Original Toronto Star caption: Ambulance men carry David Brian (Duke) Holmes; 22; who police say killed Constable James Lothian; out of the house on Madison Ave. where he shot himself rather than surrender. Holmes was dead on arrival at Toronto General Hospital. A second man in the house killed himself with the same pistol.

      A Sudbury mining executive who cast fear to the wind when he chased a gunman who moments earlier had shot and killed a pro-inspector at the Royal York Hotel, has been awarded a police citation. But yesterday, after receiving the civilian citation for bravery from Metro police commissioners, Lloyd Bardswich could only recall the incident with wonderment.
