Original Toronto Star caption: Metro police investigate the scene on Manning Ave. yesterday; where Laszlo Eper; an escaped convict; was killed by police following a chase. Just after 1 p.m.; a car was spotted making an illegal left turn and two cruisers gave chase when the car speeded up. Other officers entered the chase and at Bloor St. W. and Manning Ave. Eper ran from the car; turned on police and fired. Constable Allan Forster fired fatal shot hitting the gunman. Eper's gun is in foreground.
