One of the nation's leading financiers; he was interested in many companies and financial institutions. Born in 1858; Sir Joseph celebrated his 81st birthday on Feb. 15. His title was bestowed upon him for his service during the war as chairman of the Imperial Munitions board. In this capacity he was held in wide esteem in Great Britain as well as in Canada. A keen fisherman he is shown (Top; second from left); in his oilskins. His daughter; Mrs. Wallace Barrett; is shown with Sir Joseph (Top centre).
