Original Toronto Star caption: They said there would be days like this. The life of a politician has its trials as these two were reminded again yesterday. MPP Frank Drea of Scarborough Centre (left), spent the day pounding on doors of a Kingston Rd. apartment building and giving reassuring letters to tenants, such as George MacKenzie, who were concerned they might to thrown out of their homes. Meanwhile, Ontario Liberal leader Stuart Smith (right) was rejected by woman at Royal York subway station. She thought he was flirt.

      Tortured. By Peter Rickwood Toronto Star. A 33-year-old Canadian Sikh say he got on help from the Canadian High Commission when police in India detained and tortured him as he was about to fly home. Dalbar Sidhu, a Kitchener auto worker, told a Toronto news conference yesterday he was held at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport for two days. He claims he was denied foor and seep, was threatened with revolver and had his fingernails pulled and hair tugged out of his beard and scalp. His wife Satwant, who was travelling with him, contacted the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi after his arrest said. [Incomplete]

      Kidney specialist Dr. Paul Tam vowed to bring a $1 million kidney dialysis unit to Scarborough after Gary Belz died of a heart attack due to kidney failure more than two years ago.
