Original Toronto Star caption: Overflow Crowd of Teachers sit on floor at Toronto school board meeting last night in Education Centre listening to Chairman Doug Barr conduct meeting at which the board voted to fire 159 of its teachers as surplus. About 750 teachers had attended a rally before marching on the centre. The board voted 14-7 to dismiss the teachers and cut $1.14 million from its budget to comply with a Metro formula. Teachers will formerly grieve the cuts.
