Original Toronto Star caption: Metro's transportation system; the great highways; railways and air routes radiating out from here to all parts of Canada; has been one of the magnets drawing new people and new industry to the area. This view; looking north up the Don Valley Parkway; near the Don Mills exit; shows the flow of traffic that is the city's lifeblood. When Metro started it had a tax assessment of $2;662 million on which to raise revenue. Today that has more than doubled.

Where railways now divide city dwellers from the lake. Erskine sees gardens, housing, shops and theatres springing up over the next 20 years - adding new life to the city. But he wants that Metro's highrise suburbs could become ghettos.

      Ben Cramer is the man who set up the computer system at City Hall to centralize all the information from all the city departments. Anyone who wants to find out how much has been spent on a particular program has to do no more than push a computer button to get the answer in seconds.

      In its second year, the blind skaters program run by North York's parks and recreation department is brainchild of Andra Kelly, wife of Toronto Maple Leafs coach Red Kelly, and Nancy Cameron of department. Here, Mrs. Kelly assists Dennis Donnelly at Victoria Village Arena. There are 10 people in program, ranging in age from 7 to 62, and they come from all parts of Metro. They need more volunteers.
