Two, dark wood pillars with dates carved at top. Pillar left reads, 1914; pillar right reads, 1918. Each displays two columns of names in white text. Written below names on left pillar: Ypres – St. Julien – Somme – Courcelette – Vimy Ridge. Written below names bottom of right pillar: Lens – Passchendaele – Amiens – Arras - Cambrai. Text on overhead wood panel between pillars reads, Pupils and ex-pupils of the Jarvis St. Collegiate Institute who served in the Great War and whose lives were happily spared. “Gainst death and all-oblivious enmity, shall you pace forth; your praise shall still find room even in the eyes of all posterity”.

Original Toronto Star caption: Hold ceremony to-day. Students of Jarvis Collegiate Institute gathered at 9 a.m. to-day, not for their usual classes, but for the solemn ceremony of dedicating an honor roll. (picture ABOVE), containing 500 names of former pupils who served in the war. Inset is a view of the memorial tablet to those who died, and torchiere, which will hold a failing light to shine on the tablet. [Incomplete]
