Its capacity of 1;200 was reached before 1 p.m. and there were long lineups of people who had lengthy waits outside until places in the pool were vacated by some of the many early birds.

      Business booming: Allan Cohen of Grant's Jewellers on Church St. with some of the items that he has bought recently. One man brought in an exquisite emerald he'd paid $34,000 (U.S.) for 2 1/2 years ago. Cohen bought it - for a third of that. I'm looking for a 10 to 15 per cent profit on the stone, Cohen says.
