Notes
Original Toronto Star caption: All the pupils of Hillside Public School, the oldest school in Scarborough, played outside yesterday, the last day for the school, which was opened in 1853. The present building dates to 1904. The closing came about because only 14 youngsters are enrolled, and parents thought they would be better off in a modern school. The 14 pupils will be taken by bus two miles to Meadowvale Public School, where Hillside's Grades 1 to 3 were moved last June by the school trustees. Hillside Public School, located on Meadowvale Road at Old Finch Avenue, northeast corner.(43.827672, -79.179020)
