      Emmauel Bourdos, whose take-home pay as a hospital orderly is about $110 a week, helps the two eldest of his six children with their homework as the family gathers around the table. Bourdos is one of 6,000 Metro hospital workers who are preparing to risk the consequences of an illegal strike to get a decent wage comparable to that in similar work.
