Original Toronto Star caption: For the first time, Durham Regional Police headquarters will be able to communicate by radio with all of the 287 officers on its staff across the region when its new $502,000 radio system goes into operation 5 a.m. Monday. Sgt. Bob Jarvest tests system at police headquarters in Oshawa. It will be manned round the clock by eight officers and civilan dispatchers to handle emergency calls, Jarvest said.
