NotesOriginal Toronto Star caption: Horses Are Tethered, to the cemetery fence near the Mennonite hall in Elmira, in the area where many Old Order Amish have farms. The Amish don't use cars, trucks, electricity, telephones, radio or television and therefore share none of the worries about an energy shortage. They heat their homes with wood cut on their own woodlots or a neighbor's. Huge draft horses pull their ploughs. And Amish women say they could switch to candles from kerosene lamps.
