NotesAvenue Road. North York Hydro Truck no. 1 and its crew taken on Avenue Road near what is now Woburn Avenue. Crew left to right: Mr. G. Watson, Mr. E. Kelly, Mr. A. Penick, Mr. J. McLean, Mr. C. Gibson, Mr. H. Newman. North York?s Public Hydro Commission was formed on December 7, 1923, before which the area?s power was supplied by the Toronto and York Metropolitan Railway lines. The Commission first operated using a team of horses and a wagon, overseen by E. Kelly. The first truck was purchased in 1928.
