Original Toronto Star caption: Kitchener school children who had planned to visit Riverdale Zoo walk away in disappointment. As a result of the civic workers' strike the zoo was Padlocked and the park where they'd planned to picnic was piled high with stinking garbage. Later they saw a few animals in High Park and ate their lunch in an area there that was free of garbage. What a dirty city this is; one girl said. I wouldn't want to live here. Metro residents are unhappy too.

      Tortured. By Peter Rickwood Toronto Star. A 33-year-old Canadian Sikh say he got on help from the Canadian High Commission when police in India detained and tortured him as he was about to fly home. Dalbar Sidhu, a Kitchener auto worker, told a Toronto news conference yesterday he was held at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport for two days. He claims he was denied foor and seep, was threatened with revolver and had his fingernails pulled and hair tugged out of his beard and scalp. His wife Satwant, who was travelling with him, contacted the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi after his arrest said. [Incomplete]
