Original Toronto Star caption: Ice breaker needed on Georgian Bay; Canada's largest icebreaker operating in the Great Lakes; the Coast Guard ship Griffon has been working out of Midland for winter. The 2;828-ton; 234-foot-long vessel yesterday was busy breaking up 14-inch ice at Port McNicoll so that grain carrier Algogen could get closer to elevators. Master of ship and its 40-man crew is Capt. Patrick Connor of Newfoundland; on the bridge with Quartermaster Daniel Coligan.
